Hawth's Tools

Hawth's Analysis Tools

Hawth's Tools is a free extension for ESRI's ArcGIS ArcMap. It performs several functions that cannot be accomplished with out-of-the-box ArcGIS, including many tools useful for ecological analysis, i.e. animal movement, land cover raster analysis, etc.

Hawth's Tools is installed on all workstations in 111 and 124 Mulford Hall. You can download and install Hawth's Tools on your machine to use with ArcGIS by going to:

XTools Pro

XTools Pro

XTools Pro is a useful extension created for use with ESRI's ArcGIS ArcMap. After you download and install XTools Pro, all functionality is free for 30 days, after which only some tools are free for use and others you must purchase a license. Leica
ENVI (ITT Visual Information Solutions)
ENVI is software for the visualization, analysis, and presentation of all types of digital imagery, and features particular strength in hyperspectral image analysis.

ENVI is written in IDL (Interactive Data Language), an array-oriented language with numerous mathematical analysis tools and large dataset manipulation capabilities.

The GIIF hosts 13 licenses for ENVI 4.4 and IDL 6.4, as well as the ENVI feature extraction tool (ENVIfx), an object-based segmentation and classification tool.

Take a workshop to learn image processing and classification with ENVI!
Leica

Erdas Imagine (Leica Geosystems, Inc.)
The GIIF has 10 licenses for Leica Geosystems' Erdas Imagine 9.1, which is software for image processing, analysis, and classification.

Take a workshop to learn pixel-based image analysis and classification with Erdas Imagine!

Leica Geosystems has donated analyph glasses for use in workshops, courses, and Facility activities, including for use with K-12 activities! Thank you so much Leica Geosystems!

Definiens

Definiens Developer "eCognition" (Definiens, Inc.)
The GIIF has 15 licenses for Definiens Developer ("eCognition") 7.0, software for object-based image analysis (OBIA) and classification.

Take a workshop to learn Definiens Developer!
