GPS Equipment Rental

The GIIF has the following Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment available for rent. Rental fees will be posted here soon, but units are available now. Contact GIIF personnel for more information.

A rugged water-resistant handheld GPS, delivering an accuracy of 2-10 m, depending on environment, satellite position, etc. More info can be found at Garmin.com.

GeoXH Trimble GeoXH™
The GeoXH™ handheld is Trimble's top-of-the-line solution for high accuracy GIS data collection, delivering sub-meter horizontal accuracy under the best conditions (more info at Trimble.com). If you need the very best accuracy, add a Zephyr™ antenna to the GeoXH to get 20 cm accuracy.

Rugged field data computer (more info at Trimble.com), with a compact, ultra-rugged receivers for sub-meter accuracy under the best conditions (more info at Trimble.com). If you need the very best accuracy, add a Zephyr™ antenna to the GeoXH to get 20 cm accuracy.
Zephyr Trimble Zephyr™ antenna
Dual frequency GPS antenna for better than 20 cm accuracy when used with the GeoXH™ handheld and ProXH receiver. No need to post-process back in the office! Use either this or the GeoBeacon for real-time DGPS with <20 cm accuracy. More info can be found at Trimble.com.
GeoBeacon Trimble GeoBeacon receiver
High quality real-time differential GPS beacon corrects your position in real-time for the best GPS position accuracy when used with the GeoXH™ handheld and ProXH receiver; rugged, waterproof, bluetooth enabled, and has belt clip. IKE IKE Laser Range Finder
IKE is a laser range finder, GPS, digital camera, compass, and computer all-in-one. It allows you to gather geospatial information from a position up to 1000m away and at the push of a button, and ties all the data together with a photograph of the target. More info can be found at Survey-Lab.com.

To rent GPS equipment, contact GIIF personnel to make an appointment, or stop by the GIIF in 111 Mulford Hall during normal office hours.

Before you can take the GPS equipment away, you must:

  1. Fill out a GIIF User Form, get your PI to sign it with a charge string, and bring it to the GIIF prior to or at the time of the equipment pickup.
  2. Sign a liability waiver, taking responsibility for all damage to the equipment.
